After I worked on the film Brother Bear (I animated some of Rutt and Tuke, the moose) I left Disney but kept doing work with them as freelance. One of my first projects was creating the cover art for the Disney Adventures magazine for the release of "Bro. Bear". I must have really been into this project because I did 10 cover rough concepts to submit to them! I usually only do 3 or 4 for a project. Here's a link to the final clean up of the one they picked: [link]

This is concept #9

Ah, Disney Adventures. I still have issue 1 around here, somewhere. My dad got me an inaugural subscription for my birthday. It came with a pin that I think I still have around here as well. The cover was of Rick Moranis and Baloo from Tale Spin. When I finally stopped subscribing I had stacks of issues on my shelf, all of which have since disappeared. I either threw them out or took them to the used book store.

Did you leave disney because Brother bear was the last movie where they used real drawings?

Kind of. They also shut down the Florida studio soon after Bro Bear. It all happened around the same time.

I think it's sad, I really liked the original drawn movies.
