Indy Pop Pocahonatas by tombancroft Indy Pop Pocahonatas by tombancroft
One of the many sketches I did at Indy Pop Con this last weekend in Indianapolis!   Someone asked for the dreaded Pocahontas!  Just kidding, I've started to like drawing her now that the movie is long past.  Weird.

Gorgeous! Love the hair flow, and energy in the pose even when simply standing still:)

I love how you made the character more than what the movie made her. This is beautiful.

OH MY GOSH!!! I am in love with this! My friends tell me I look like her haha, but I really love this, Pocahontas herself, and your style of drawing

I spotted this on Tumblr yesterday and absolutely fell in love with it! :w00t: The way you draw Pocahontas, she's got a real fiery, mischievous edge to her. :D

Thanks.  I actually think i can draw her better now than I could during the film.  It was just too intimidating going over Glen's sketches and guidance.  Deer in headlights syndrome.

Goodness, "deer in headlights" aside, Pocahontas is incredibly tricky to draw right, so back then and today, you're doing a fantastic job with her! Especially since Pocahontas is so graceful, but she has to look stoic and powerful, too... there's almost zero leeway for her to be silly or fun. Which is fine, because that's the character, but it's still majorly difficult to pull off. :faint:
