This is the step-by-step process I went through to create this color Wonder Woman drawing. Unlike my usual working process, this was done 100% digital with Photoshop and a Wacom tablet. I was trying to work quick so I didn't do anything too fancy. Its meant to be a simple color character drawing. I MEANT to create a fun, digital sketch in browns with highlights and a "pencil" line, but I went overboard.
HERE We go:
Step 1- roughly sketched it out over a brown background with a light grey color. Step 2- On a new layer, I started inking it digitally ink it with a 'brush' that had a little thick and thin. The sketch was not worked out, which is what I wanted- I wanted to add details as I inked. Step 3- Still inking. I am moving things here and there as I ink if I see stuff (like the top of her head) as I go. Note that I try and ink things that are in the foreground first, then the stuff behind it- it helps to make sure lines don't go through each other. Step 4- Finished inks but bottom sketch layer is still on. Step 5- Turned off the sketch level so you can see just the inks. Step 6- I added a layer under the inks level and added a white mask behind her, then added a layer under that with the background shape and added a gradiation to it. Step 7- Adding a COLOR level ABOVE the inks level (and multiply it). I start filling in sloppy because I'm gonna color around these first colors. Step 8- Finished the flat colors. Step 9- Added a Highlights level above the color one. This is just the highlights first. Step 10- Added a Tones level for the darker colors. Step 11- Added a shadow level below the white mask, a glow effect to the lasso, and I softened the edge of the BG shape. DONE!
Awesome work as always! I was wondering what is the advantage of putting the color level above and multiplying it instead of placing it underneath the outline?
