I'm at my in-laws house this week so I thought I'd take some pictures of the artwork I've given them through the years. These are actual drawings from Disney animation films. For those requesting Simba drawings, this one is for you. This is from the scene I animated where Simba's mom (I don't remember her name, can you name her?) is giving Simba a "bath" and he is saying, "Mooom, you're messing up my mane!" I did most of this section where he's trying to get Nala to go see the elephant grave yard. Okay, maybe 3 or 4 scenes, but it was fun stuff. Russ Edmonds animated the mom licking him on another level (diff. sheets of paper). The way it works is one animator goes first (in this case me) and sketches in where the mom would go as well as where Simba goes. I needed to sketch in the mom's tongue and head on another level so I knew where Simba's hair /face was getting hit. Russ then used my scribbles as reference to place his nice drawings of the mom over mine and make it look pretty. It's tricky and made even more tricky when I was in Florida and he was in Calif. We were literally shipping the drawings back and forth in those days. Can you imagine if the package got lost or destroyed in the mail? It happened once or twice, but not to me, thankfully.
As an aspiring CG animator your works were such a huge influence on my wanting to become an animator. I just would like to say thanks for all the great childhood memories.
AMAZING!
