This is another pencil test I did a few years back for a video game company that was doing a 2D game. (Don't ask what happened to it, I don't know- it was called THE ACT at the time). Anyway, you have to imagine staggers in the two spots he is straining to open the window, I was going to add that when I tied it down, but never got to that, that I can remember. I don't think this was used because this section was cut for cost reasons.

You can find it here:

Still love how rough this is : D

What would your process be if your had to do a scene with another animator? Like, how do you figure who animates first, who does what etc etc. Would thre be any difference in that process if the scene didn't have dialogue?

I'd like to answer this but I'm on my ipad and that's a long, complicTed answer. It's never easy to split a scene, but it almost always leads to some good stuff.

I'm kinda banging my head against a wall right now since I just finished an animation assignment for a class. The subject was a weighted lift. This is a really great piece, I really feel the strain of the character. I forwarded the video to my professor.

Most of the "strain" really isn't even in there as it is now. Like I mentioned, its missing the staggers, which would help that quite a bit. Thanks for the compliments and good luck to you!

Oh man Tom, you never cease to amaze me :D I love your little animation clips! Do you have any old Mulan or Lion King pencil tests lying around still? ;P

You're kidding me! You worked on The Act?! I have pictures of it (it was never released) all over my wall because of how terrific the art and poses are! I love the style. Wow, that's awesome that you worked on it. The animation always seemed great from everything I've seen on the game. Shame the company went out of business. Thanks for a look at the pencil test, it's amazing how emotive it is with very little detail. Great stuff.

Here is the website for it (though it doesn't say it was cancelled... odd...) in case anyone wants to see: [link]
