Thanks to everyone that contributed a sketch to my "assignment #4" for my book that comes out next year. Its going to take a little bit, but I promise to pick two of them and draw up my "mentor notes" and post them here. I am not officially accepting any more submissions (I have plenty and everyone did an excellent job on it!) but that doesn't mean you CAN"T DO THEM from here on out. Look through my past Journals and do the other assignments too. I don't have time to review them but, believe me, you will learn something and be challenged by doing them. THEN, look at other submitted ones in the comments and my notes to the ones I chose, its like a class on the computer! I designed each of these assignments to be close to challenges you will have given to you ON THE JOB, so they are not a waste of time.
And that leads me to telling you that I have at least TWO MORE ASSIGNMENTS COMING SOON. Like in the next week or two. They are fun and completely different from what we have done in the past- but centered on character- driven drawing! Yeah!
LASTLY (is that a word?), is there a specific element of making your characters ACT that you'd like me to explore in my book? As weird as it sounds, I am very light in that chapter (weird since that's the majority of my career- making characters act) and wanted to see if there was anything I should include that I am forgetting. Making two characters communicate through pantomime? Multiple character (group shots) that tell a story? This chapter is about using posing and expressions to get your characters to ACT. This book is getting good, I can't wait for you all to see it !
