How do you even imagine that would work? And now, of course, people start crying that their computers got infected with malware. Which is great - every genius who fell for this obvious phishing scam deserved it. I hope your shitty computer burns and you along with it.

Opinions are a Dangerous thing: Art StylesThis isn't about narking on anyone no, infact this is just my own muses really! You could say this is a journal for ENCOURAGEMENT! *SHINES*
I find sticking to one style restrictive if you are a beginning/moderate artist! (even professionals I might say! though I can't speak for everyone)
Having a distinctive look on how your art is done and produced is understandable and its a desire to appear unique to the point some one can just SEE your work and instantly think 'Oh! that's Ten-days!' or something along the line. However, when you are trying to find who you are and what kind of art you are to produce, I recommend trying, well, a lot of different things! Different styles, mixing styles, different colouring techinque, brushes, tools, shading. Don't feel dependant on what you are already doing and don't feel pressured by people just for trying new things!
Push out of your comfort zone. Can't draw hands? don't avoid it! draw the heck out of them! (how else are you going to learn?)

It's really choppy and suuuuuper scribbly because I took like 30 seconds to draw each frame. Please fill in the gaps and gloss over the art with your wonderful imagination! I made it in Windows Movie Maker which is an absolutely evil program =o=

Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me.

Nintendo STEALS Money!Since this has been going around lately, I should probably give my two cents. Basically what it amounts to is that Nintendo has filed Content ID info of their games with YouTube. What this means is that if you upload gameplay video of a Nintendo game, YouTube will automatically monetize that video, put ads on it, a link to where to buy the game, and take the money generated from that video and give it directly to Nintendo. People who do "let's play" videos are, naturally, pissed off because they want to be earning money off their videos, so they're calling Nintendo "thieves" for doing this.
I can see both sides to the story. I can see Nintendo as a corporation wanting to exercise control over their properties. On the other hand, "let's play" videos can often help new gamers find games they otherwise wouldn't have tried.
But here's the thing: Nintendo isn't the first company do this. Both Microsoft and Ubisoft do it already. YouTube has also had a long history of having music videos and

Character Mentor is done!

Wahoo!  As of Saturday, I finished the final tweaks to the manuscript and last four illustrations for my CHARACTER MENTOR book!!  It will come out around February of 2012 from Focal Press publishers.

I'm excited about you all seeing this book.  After 2 to 2 and a half years of working on it, I'm excited to hold it in MY hands too!  Many of you here on DA contributed artwork toward the assignments that I posted here.  As a matter of fact, this book really could not have had the "interactive" feel that it will have without DeviantArt and the amazing, talented, artists here!  Everyone that I gave notes on their artwork will be named in the book and their artwork will be reproduced for all to see!  I thank you all.  I ALSO thank those of you who created artwork that I could not use!  Some of it was heart breaking not to include, but there just wasn't room or I didn't have the time to review them all.  The good news: this book will be thicker, more meaty in text and artwork, and (in my opinion) more well drawn than my first book, "Creating Characters with Personality".  Even the graphic design of the fonts, page layouts and more should be better!  I've asked Focal Press to use Leonardo Olea, a graphic artist in Mexico that works with Humberto Ramos and others quite a bit.  He's awesome and super excited to work on the book.  I've seen his first pass on the cover image and its GREAT!  Can't wait to see his first pass on the interiors.  I will post the cover when I get permission from the publisher.  Of course, I' will give updates to all of you as they come in.  There is a pre-order page on Amazon.com already!  Its here: [link]

The OTHER exciting element to this book that I want to mention is the website!  We are just now starting to discuss what will be on it, but I have big plans for it!  It will, of course, tie into the book but my hope is that it will also become a place for me to post additional "mentorship" instruction.    Maybe even some back and forth interaction with you all.  Definetly, some "how to" videos from me - something I've been meaning to do for some time.  AND....maybe, just maybe...the beginning of some online classes from me!  Let me know what you think should be on this website and what you'd be willing to pay for- if anything.

I'll let you know more about all of this as things develop.  IT STARTS NOW!

I'm glad your book is done. I'm looking forward to getting a copy One that is autographed would be so cool. Could i possible convince you to do more tutorials? I see a genuine need for an experienced artist such as yourself to get the knowledge out there in a easy to memorize self paced step by step format. One that can truly save people thousands of dollars on over priced tuition.
In both schools i attended confusion reins your lucky if they show things just 1 time, and your expected to have mastered it there and then. And if you couldn't see them clearly or get them to talk or answer your questions you so out of luck.
I really would love to see Art Tom Bancroft's way.
