If you don't know what it is, its a "crowd funding" site. You post a video and ask for a certain amount of money for that project. You give them gifts that rise in their level of value based on the amount you "fund". It tends to lean toward creative projects like film, animation, video games, comics, and books.
I have a couple projects that I want to use this site for. (Who doesn't, right?) One is a smaller comic project (to compile my Opposite Forces 4 issue comic series into a trade paperback and include all the pinups and covers that guys like J. Scott Campbell, Humberto Ramos, Frank Cho, and Mike Wieringo did for it- maybe even add a brand new 8 page story) and a huge, long term 2d animation short film. That one would be big and take lots of time. More of a dream project. Any interest in either of them?
So, i don't have a huge reason for this post but I wanted to see if anyone out there has done a Kickstarter before and if they have any opinions on it. I've funded a couple projects myself and it feels good to help a buddy out on their project if I believe in it. Have you funded any?

1. good video,
2. good rewards.
I think if you have a good fan base, as Tom Kelly here said, it will definitely make a huge difference. Actually Tom Kelly has pretty much the same advice I would have, from the funding side of it.
Or rather, pick whichever site you like, depending on which behavior you want if you have a project that gets half-funded.
I've funded several through kickstarter (BronyCon the Documentary, CreatureBox: THE MONSTER VOLUME, Trial of the clone, OUYA, Guts of Glory, Planetary Annihilation, etc, etc, etc) but amazingly enough the only one that's come through so far is the BronyCon one. With that said I do expect the rest to succeed with delivering on their promises; as they say these things take time.
I dunno if you're thinking of it or not but if you are going to go through with the 2D animated short for kickstarter then may I recommend showing a few preview animations/animatics in your video promotion to wet peoples palettes and to help pull them into your adventure you're trying to create.
