Opinions are a Dangerous thing: Art StylesThis isn't about narking on anyone no, infact this is just my own muses really! You could say this is a journal for ENCOURAGEMENT! *SHINES*
I find sticking to one style restrictive if you are a beginning/moderate artist! (even professionals I might say! though I can't speak for everyone)
Having a distinctive look on how your art is done and produced is understandable and its a desire to appear unique to the point some one can just SEE your work and instantly think 'Oh! that's Ten-days!' or something along the line. However, when you are trying to find who you are and what kind of art you are to produce, I recommend trying, well, a lot of different things! Different styles, mixing styles, different colouring techinque, brushes, tools, shading. Don't feel dependant on what you are already doing and don't feel pressured by people just for trying new things!
Push out of your comfort zone. Can't draw hands? don't avoid it! draw the heck out of them! (how else are you going to learn?)

It's really choppy and suuuuuper scribbly because I took like 30 seconds to draw each frame. Please fill in the gaps and gloss over the art with your wonderful imagination! I made it in Windows Movie Maker which is an absolutely evil program =o=

Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me.

Nintendo STEALS Money!Since this has been going around lately, I should probably give my two cents. Basically what it amounts to is that Nintendo has filed Content ID info of their games with YouTube. What this means is that if you upload gameplay video of a Nintendo game, YouTube will automatically monetize that video, put ads on it, a link to where to buy the game, and take the money generated from that video and give it directly to Nintendo. People who do "let's play" videos are, naturally, pissed off because they want to be earning money off their videos, so they're calling Nintendo "thieves" for doing this.
I can see both sides to the story. I can see Nintendo as a corporation wanting to exercise control over their properties. On the other hand, "let's play" videos can often help new gamers find games they otherwise wouldn't have tried.
But here's the thing: Nintendo isn't the first company do this. Both Microsoft and Ubisoft do it already. YouTube has also had a long history of having music videos and

Wow, we ALL have a chip on our shoulders about art schools, hmmm?  I wanted to keep my "ART SCHOOL RANT" up longer (it has about 150 VERY LOOOONG comments as of now- btw, I've read them ALL too) but I wanted to get this info out before I forget to post it!

I've finally solidified my "Appearance" schedule and I want you all to come see me at one of these conventions!  Its like Tommypaloosa, only no music.  The BIG surprise is my wonderful, beautiful, gracious wife has relented....Uh.....allowed...um...given permissi.....geez....AGREED that I should attend HEROES CON next month so if you live in the SOUTH (like me), come on down to North Carolina and buy my new book, old book, my 2012 sketchbook (this will be the first place I sell it in the U.S.- only 50 left!), original art, sketches, AND my new workbook (more on that below)!!   See below.

SECONDLY-  I have a new product that I am just now releasing to go along with my new book, Character Mentor.  Its called the Character Mentor Studio, Workbook 1!  (The first of 4 planned.)  What is it?  One part sketchbook, one part workshop- aka a "workbook".  Workbook 1 is super simple but priced in expensively.  It's 50 pages of different shapes (usually 4 or 5 per page) for you to make into all kinds of character faces!  Its supposed to be a "juices" starter to get you to try new things and create characters you never thought you had in you! Work books sound fantastic. Honestly they are the best way to learn and in my opinion drills in technique with reviews are the best way to memorize and learn. People just can't learn it right 1f it's not drilled into them. Lol that's why there are Drill instructors.
