Hey everybody, I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to plop on here and- for once- not sell anything. I thought I'd just say, "Blah, the weather is rainy" for starters. I'm super busy with about 4 different jobs and preparing for some trips/lectures. I'm excited about most all of it. One cool thing is it looks like I might be going to Orlando and Vancouver to speak at two of the EA video game studios! Its the two that do the sports games but I won't be talking sports (thank goodness- not a sports guy), I'll be talking about performance/acting in your animation. Something they don't get to do a lot of but will be doing more and more of in the future, I'm sure. I have good friends at the Orlando office so looking forward to seeing them. BEFORE that, there's a local comic con here (in Nashville, TN) that I was just invited to just the other day. It's called GMX (
[link] and its at the end of THIS month. Check it out if your a local (to me). CTN EXPO (in California) is coming up too, so I'm super excited about that too. They are going to have a panel for my twin brother and I called "Two Brothers Named Bancroft". I fully expect Tony to take over and I will hardly say a thing. Then he'll say I did all the talking afterward! That's how it usually goes.
The other day I was thinking about the past year and figured out that between my day job and my freelance I have designed over 200 characters in the last year or so! Easily that many. Crazy. That's not counting all the REALLY bad ones that went into the trash either! Some stinkers were counted though.
Additionally, I'm pitching a TV show to a major animation studio and its got a green light so far (you always have to say "so far" when talking about Hollywood) and I've been working on getting a Kickstarter project together for my Opposite Forces compilation graphic novel! It will collect all four issues (written and drawn by me) in COLOR (the original version was black and white) but will also have ALL the covers done for both print runs and the pinups from the black and white version. I'm getting many of them colored that were never colored before (including ones by Mike Weiringo and Humberto Ramos!). On top of that, there will be an extensive sketchbook area showing lots of development art for the series AND the premiere of the TV SHOW pitch that I put together recently for (A major animation studio). Its gonna be cool and I'm getting excited to see it all put together! The Kickstarter should launch in the next couple months. (Does this sound like I'm selling? Dang it. Didn't mean to.)
OH- and one thing I AM kind of selling- I'm doing a LIVE radio interview TONIGHT (OCT. 3rd) so call in or listen in or something. Its called the POW WOW SHOW and it can be found at: www.sofloradio.com. It starts at 9PM, EASTERN? I think. Check out the link.
EDIT: Here's a link to the radio interview from last night. Make sure you fast forward to about 36:10 to get to the interview part. Warning: its GEEKY!

Over 200 characters in a year... that's an incredible number. Can you imagine putting them all in a huge line, all of them neatly organized (of course with the relative sizes of each) and the stinkers disturbing the neat ones just for giggles? So much work for something just for fun certainly! Then again, that's how the best projects usually start.
BTW, I hope your "so far" project stays as a "so far" till you get to the end of it and see it fully produced! GOOD LUCK!
PS: Can you try whacking Tony with the microphone at the talks? Do it and then you can put all the blame on me
Funnnnnnnnny. Good supporting characters
can really steal the show if not reined in!
Just think of the fun the writers would have
had if Eddie Murphy was chosen as the
blue genie!
Cool interview and congrats on having
your pitched story green lighted. I look
forward to seeing it on CN.
I'm helping a friend with her table (plus I have a 3-day pass), so I'll be around
